Research
the trailer above shows lower and mid shots which we are concidering in using for our film, this is because dancing is focused on feet mainly but also incorpirates different body parts to show the movement of dance. The use of clever editing creates a flashing effect which emphasises the differnt shots in different places.

ReplyDeleteIt would be useful if you could first establish the genre of film opening which you are planning on making. That way I can offer slightly more constructive feedback.
'Footloose' while an absolute classic film and track (by Kenny Loggins) is obviously a musical. The video you've chosen is also a music video so has a different editing style which may not be suitable for a film opening.
In terms of 'poetry' this is one of the most famous films openings in recent British cinema

This scene from Trainspotting isn't a musical but it has a clear narrative and introduces characters.
Flashdance is one of the few musical film openings but as its about a stripper i'm not going to post a link to it here.
Also take a look at my blog for a link to a website dedicated to film openings.
